Halfmoon Gravel Pit Rescue

Our crews were toned out for a rescue/extrication a little after 8pm on Friday August 29th.  The call was for a possible trench rescue in the town of Halfmoon in Saratoga County.  We Assembled our crews and deployed Rescue 2 and Squad 2, our Trench Rescue/Technical Rescue Unit.

As more information became available the Job switched gears from a Trench Rescue to Mud/Water Rescue.  The Patient was submerged in thick mud and water roughly chest high.  Crews from Halfmoon-Waterford Fire Dept. were able to pump the water down about 3ft to gain better access. Colonie Village FD and Latham FD arrived on scene and began rescue operations.  Clifton Park Halfmoon Emergency Corps provided excellent medical care throughout.

From the start of active extrication, the patient was freed in roughly 30 minutes, Great job to all involved.
